Tony lost to Nigel and Dave lost to Carl in the first round so it was a Plate Final between the two chairmen. Yes, the TOP BRASS of Cornish squash! Incidentally, these two started playing squash together at Polkyth way back in the early eighties - they were slimmer, fitter, hairier and better runners back in the day though! So match no 3,245 between these two 'weekend squash players' who prefer the dark underworld of racketball these days, got off to a surprising start with Tony nicking the 1st whilst Dave was combing his golden locks in the corner. Chairman Dave then convened a quick TSRC Committee meeting in the 90 second break and knew exactly what to do - hit the ball elsewhere than where Chairman Tony was standing racket poised!!! By now that serious broken fingernail injury Tony the Elder had suffered in the 60s final was causing him such pain and anguish that Dave the Younger decided to up the ante by actually playing some good shots for once! Whack, whack, whack and the deed was done, over quicker than it takes Clare to book another holiday, a win for CHAMPION DAVE who celebrated by promising a lavish and very racy Gentleman's evening at Truro HQ with free drinks to everyone on his slate! And so it came to pass and was forever enshrined in tablets of stone....
