| Report: | PZ1 looking to get a first win of the spring league welcomed Truro 4 to the Mennaye..
Naythen playing still with a groin injury at no 4 came up against O70s player Dave no rallies Matthews.. dave with his superior racket control took the first 2 games with ease.. Naythen somehow found a way to start covering the front of the court to counter drop Dave and sneaked the third.. Dave regained control and ran out a worthy 3/0 winner..
Undefeated this season young Ed came up against improving Jonny Blenkien.. Jon rackets skills and control especially on his backhand looked to have improved and took Ed by surprise and won the first.. Ed maybe looking to kill and finish the rallies to quickly lost his line and length and Jon took control and the mach 3/0 .Another good lesson learnt by Ed as his game improves..
Gordon drafted in from PZ2 seemed ready for the battle against old foe Jon Wills who had been out of the squash circles due to a long term injury.. Jon found his touch quickly and soon had Gordon moving to the 4 corners of the court and took an easy first.. Gordon found his rhythm in the next 2 games and nothing could separate the two players. Gordon had his chances in the match but could not convert.. Great effort Jon !
Nigel at no1had to play new dad Henry.. Nigel put up a great fight taking Henry close in every game .Nigel needs to change his serve more often and maybe attack his opponents serve some more. It was a very similar match to Gordons, competitive close deserving of game but alas another 3/0 defeat. Only one point for the Pirates and relegation looming !! |
