Report: | What a great night of squash, plenty of spectators too.
The night started with Callum taking a flying start pushing the team 2 captain to the limit in the first, taking it 11/6. even with a valiant effort from Tom, Callum pushed through taking it 3/0
Next on was the on-form George who never looked to troubled by the out-of-sorts doctor Dan who with a late surge in game three looked as if he might make a come back but it wasn't to be, another 3/0 win for Tr1.
Rory and young Lewis at 2, what a game! Rory's skill let him take the first game but the youngster wasn't going to let that get him down, his agility and speed never wained, getting every one of the other number 2 shots back, it was relentless. The young man just kept on picking everything up without making an error until Rory made more and more mistakes and went down 3/1.
With the match and the Cornwall league title won, it was the turn of the number 1's, Another team 2 youngster, Owen, having been traveling for 5 weeks was back to do his best against a fresh from an 8-week injury Conor.
It was tight with owen just taking the first 11/9 With Owen tiring Conor took advantage securing the 3rd, the 4th looked to be going Conor's way at 8/2 it was going to a 5th but the youngster's shots started to pay off and Conor along with the crowd was amazed at Owens persistence and shots, He certainly didn't want it to go to a 5th and won it 3/1.
Well played Tr2!
Tr1 took the match and are now confirmed as the 2024 Cornwall League Champions, again!
