The Pirates welcomed bottom of the league Truro 5. Young Taron promoted to the first team started off brightly taking the first game with some lovely drop shots. Robin rallied and worked hard to stay in the match and managed to steal ta tight second game.. Young Taron annoyed with himself in dropping the second seemed to go up another gear and edged Robin in the next 2 games.. A great first win for Taron playing for the firsts many more to come in the future we hope !!
Truro had to pull in veteran and ex Pirate Russ.Wayne keen to rediscover his form soon had control of the game and match.. Russ was struggling to keep up with Wayne's speed around the court. Wayne ran out a comfortable although we thank Russ for turning out for Truro and giving it his best.. Nigel was on next against Adam who was playing much higher in the order than usual . This should have been a comfortable match for Nigel although Adam had other ideas.. With his long reach and unorthodox drop and volley's caused Nigel a few problem.. Nigel took back control after losing a tight second and ran out a 3/1 winner. Credit to Adam for a string performance.. Gordon finished off the night against a very young keen and quick Ollie.. The first looked as thou this was going to me a tough encounter for evergreen Gordon.. With such skill and touch Gordon took control and worked Ollie like a puppet and moved him all around the court. This also compounded Ollies problem as he become loose and Gordon put on a masterful display and won a comfortable match.
Super curry by Chef Ruffel in the bar afterwards.. Thanks Truro for an enjoyable evening of squash..
2 away match's for the Pirates away to the top 2 teams Newquay and next week Falmouth on Weds.. Pirates might have a say who will take the title before Christmas |
