Report: | Pirates welcomed unbeaten table topping Falmouth to the Menaye . First string were on first for a change.. Nigel nicked a tough first game with some lovely racket work which kept him in the game.. The next 2 Matt was really strong and overpowered Nigel.. The fourth went the way of nigel who dug deep to take it into the fifth.. Matt took back control again to take the decider.. Great game .. Wayne looking to regain confidence after a tough defeat last week started slowly and made a lot of unforced errors.. Alex took the first with ease.. Wayne found his energy and movement in the second and put Alex under a lot more pressure and levelled.. The next 2 were very tight with Wayne having game balls to take it into the fifth. Alex rallied and pushed himself with some great pick ups to steal the fourth and the match .. Ian at number 4 came up against Dr Tom.. Ian always seemed to be behind in the first needing time to get moving around the court.. Tom had 3 game balls but then seemed to tighten up lost all control and gave away 5 strokes to lose a tight first.. Ian came off court with a massive smile.. Both the next two games were tight although Ian's superior racket control always kept Tom moving around the court and eventually making the error. A great win for Ian 3 zip and some free advice from Dr Tom on Ian's foot issue during warm down.. Thank you Dr Tom for your generosity with your advice especially after just losing a tight match.. Gordon had all the pressure on him to get 2 games to level the match.. Another long first match which again with Pirate Benbow just edging it.. Huw levelled with some powerful squash and great pick up although Pirate Benbow pushed him all the way.. The third was decisive in which the pirate played a great game mixing the drop with the boast and twisting Huw in every direction Huw was staring to get annoyed with himself although Gordon had 3 game balls to level the match and missed the chance , credit to Huw who fought back to take another epic game.. The fourth was tight but the Falmouth man ran out the winner to win the match and the victory for Falmouth.. The Pirates can be proud of the performance pushed a strong Falmouth all the way.. Thank you Phil for tasty curry and Sally for her wonderful service.. |
