Report

Report: PZ1 welcomed Newquay 1 on Thursday.. Young Ed stepped in at no 4 looking for his first win of the season. Jack proved to be a tough opponent never giving up on any point. Ed lost a tight first by giving away two strokes. This was the pattern of the match lots of long rallies but the standard of accuracy was quite loose thus both players asking for lots of lets and strokes.. Ed raced through the second and third we had a tight fourth and fifth with Ed sneaking it 3/2... No 3 Gordon came up against the lightening quick Harry who took a tight first. It did not look great for the evergreen Gordon against a very determined and youthful opponent. Gordon found his length and short game and started to push Harry to all four corners of the court. Gordon took the next two game to 10 and the fourth Harry had games balls to take it to a five setter. Gordon had other ideas and managed to sneak a win. Well played Gordon it was an awesome performance.. Wayne came up against a new face for Newquay young Smiler Milo.. Mile looking very smooth and maybe I would say played a lot of junior squash. His lengths and control was causing Wayne a lot of problems and soon Wayne went 2/0 down. One thing with Wayne is he will never give up and always will believe he can win and this proved crucial to him taking the fourth. he found some rhythm and managed to push Milo forward who did not look so comfortable. Normal service resumed in the fourth and Milo kept Wayne behind him and took the fourth quite easily.
Nigel required 2 points to secure victory for the Pirates. Darren Newquay's No 1 hit he ball very sweet and attacked whenever the opportunity arose.. He was always in control and took a tight first Nigel and game balls in the second but went 2/0 down. At 11 all in the third Darren just seemed to run out of puff and Nigel took it with ease.. The fourth was tight again and Darren just had that bit extra and won the game and match to take the honours for Newquay. Great match well fought by everyone. We all should respect the marker and his decisions at all times and thank him when the match is finished !!.Lovely meal afterwards in the Bar.. Thank you Phil.. Well played Newquay..
