A tough evening for Fal3 facing the league leaders and needing points to try and move off the bottom.
But we were up for it and Sam kicked off proceedings with a gallant effort against in-form Gary. The first game dictated the rest of match which was a game of volley drop and tight drives from Gary. At the end it could have gone either way but Gary's resilience paid off to win the first. Sam battled well in the next two games but never really challenged Gary's dominance of the T.
3rd string game between runners Dave R and Robin was a close affair in the first but Robin's relentless rallies and good recovery shots proved too much for Dave. Robin got to everything and piled too much pressure resulting in forced errors from Dave in the second and third.
2nd string game was good quality, cat and mouse between Christian and Chris. Chris won the first and Christian came back strong in the second and should have taken it but Chris served well and secured it. Christian dug deep and got his token deep drives and volley drops going and moved Chris around the court to win the third. However, Chris still had some of those great serve replies, the fitness and drove home the win in a tight fourth game.
1st string game showed Fin's precision game and finesse with textbook squash againt Tom J. Quality shots and fast pace gave us a masterclass but Tom did well and managed to keep in most of the rallies with good points earned in the first and second games but Fin put his foot down in the 3rd. Quality squash from both players.
Challenging evening with only a point for our efforts but 100% commitment from every Fal3 player. A very strong Bude1 squad and deserved winners of the Div3 league 👏. We took solace in plenty of beers and chilli afterwards 😄 |
