Report: | Our 3rd game of the spring season and a home leg against Truro5.
4th string game proved to be the match of the evening. Season debut for Francis who gave a fantastic account of himself chasing every ball and literally throwing himself around the court. Good drives, volleys and drops gave him an early lead going 2-1 up but Adam mixed the game up and used high drives and cross courts to give him more time and drilled out the win.
3rd string game found 'man on form' Dave R gain a very impressive straight win with a controlled drive and drop game. The pace was too much for Chris who tried to slow it down but Dave responded with trickle boasts and focused volley drops.
Christian playing at 2nd string had a tough evening finding Steve in tremendous form. Steve's tight drops from everywhere on the court, precision boasts and no errors forced the mistakes from Christian. A few signs of the Christian magic drives and drops were apparent but not enough of them to really challenge Steve.
Last up - 4th string game and Tom J's spring debut for Fal3 against Gerrit. Tom took a while to get warmed up in the first and quickly found himself one game down with too many unforced errors. The second game proved to be the pivotal game with Tom starting well, playing his usual game of cross court drops off serves and creating winners from good lengths and volley drops. Tom had earned the second game and had 3 game points but Gerrit somehow managed to pull it back and claim the second. A good early battle in the third with again signs that Tom could have turned the game around but Gerrit pushed Tom too deep and controlled the majority of the rallies.
Well played Truro5!! Good chilli and beers afterwards.
Yet another tough one for Fal3 and bruised but we'll battle on for the game against the TruroJ next week :-). |
