Report: | A crunch match with the NOBs pushing for promotion!
PZ graciously offered there venue to the nomadic NOBs for the evening for this clash.
A buoyed PZ were fizzing on the back of 2 back to back wins and were aching for a third!
Jack and Tim were on first - Jack working Tim hard and taking the early lead 2-0. Tims experience and racket work started to make life difficult for Jack and it went down to the 5th, Tim coming through victorious. Matt and Nigel were on next - Nigel proving too tenacious in the first, chasing everything down to get the first game and easing the second too. Matt finally got his act together and breezed the 3rd before falling back into bad habits and Nigel taking the win 3-1.
6-3 to PZ at this stage.....The NOBs needed help!
Doorstep and PorkChop need to win, and win well for the NOBs to have a chance of victory.
Tatters got off to a shaky start, with Gordon controlling the tee and taking the first before Adam came back to level things 1-1. A tight 3rd went to tie break with Gordon sneaking it.... The NOBs needed the 3 Vs to ever have a hope at win!
Tatters dug deep and squeezed the tight 4th game to make it 2-2 making the fifth a nailbiter!! The NOBs should never have worried, Adam stretching his legs and running everything down to bring the last home, 15-6.
PZ lead 8-6.
Harry needed a 3-0 to secure the victory - no pressure then for the Spoons man!
It started close, with a spirited defence of let calls and decisions.... Adrian soaking up the thunderous blasts of Harrys racket....but after the first, Harry tightened his grip.
Victory was never in any doubt for the NOBs(!) - and the 3-0 from Harry was the nail in the coffin for PZ... the NOBs win 9-8, 12-8 with the bonus.
An excellent evening of squash, beers, food and social with the boys from down west.
Big thanks to Tim for the Spar trip and Phil for organising food!! |
