Report: | With Tr4 depleted with key players away at the National champs in Notts, it was a perfect opportunity for PZ to extend their lead at the top of Div2. Match of the evening was undoubtedly the number one strings, Jules v Nigel. A five setter which ebbed and flowed with both players showing guile and fitness in equal amounts. In the end it was Nigel’s experience that won the day as he floated and picked off Julian’s weaker returns to dominate the 5th game. Gary started well against Tim but the pirate just had too much court coverage and staying power. Had the Tr4 skipper been more accurate when the chances presented themselves then it could have been tighter. Kat started brightly against Quinny. She looked firmly in control and certainly had better shot selection. Quinny got into retrieval mode and the game changed completely though Kat will rue the missed opportunities she had especially in the 3rd. Henry made a very impressive debut appearance. He was quick and decisive around the court giving Naythan lots to think about early on. The rubber was finely poised in the 2nd and 3rd each taking a game, 15-13 to H and 15-10 to N but it was a victorious 3-1 result for the ex-Newquay man in the end. 3-1 is a lot better than 4-0! Well done the table toppers, always a good night with the Pirates 🏴☠️ |
