| Report: | A relatively close match, with both teams’ lower orders weakened by absence. Fin was comfortable at 1, despite Matt’s spirited defence, and the same was true of the number 3 match between Paul and me. Andy vs. Emily was more of a tussle, with Andy’s court presence and tactical positioning more than offsetting Emily’s superior racquet-work. Match of the night, as so often, goes to Chris vs. Mike vs. Chris vs. Mike vs. Chris. At least that’s how it felt. Many enthralling rallies, some excellent deception and both players giving 100% over 5 games that swung like a 70s golf club. Bude now has a microwave, so we even got to enjoy warm pizza :) |
