| Report: | Apart from Adam who pulled his calf again and retired early in the 2nd, all of the other three rubbers were tightly contested with entertaining squash for the onlookers in the gallery. The evergreen Dave went 2-0 up 18-16 and 18-16 against Ali who fought back well to level the contest at two games all. Dave looked a beaten man and Ali is certainly not a player who gives up easily, so we all predicted a Bude win but The Master served brilliantly, always high and wide, and Ali just couldn’t get onto the T. 3-2 to Dave and the match was levelled. Robin v Si looked a very even match up in style at least and the scores in all three games were very close. Si just couldn’t get the breaks he needed and Robin played the big points confidently - 3 zip! That’s 5 wins out of 7 for the much improved Bude #3. Top billing as usual and eagerly anticipated by the Truro faithful, last match on was Julian v Fin. Irish the Younger looked in prime form after some confidence boosting county U19 wins at Cheltenham at the weekend. It looked ominous for Julian at first though he dug in (as he does), extended the rallies and won some great points. Rapturous applause! Fin saved 4 game balls against in the third to leave Julian to rue the misses he made. Match over 3-0 to Fin and a new experience for the in-form Truro 4 ‘five setter’ man! Well done Bude, still undefeated going into the final few matches. Ali to celebrate at Macdonald’s on the well back! Poised just 2 pts behind TR4 with two games in hand it’s all heading for the biggest clash of the new season the
Penzance away - now that’s looking juicy! Meanwhile TR4 will also be slightly fearful of their next opponents……🏴☠️! |
