Report: | A cold evening saw the Pirates visit Fal2 who managed to field an almost full strength team to try and demonstrate their potential (if only they didn't all do on-call work!)
The chilly conditions seemed to remind Gordon the Scot of home, as he looked comfortable taking advantage of a double figure unforced error rate from Christian to take the early lead for PZ.
Tom H forced an early pace against Gareth, not allowing him to settle until the 3rd which was much closer but the momentum was with the home player by that point.
Man of the Match goes to Alex H, who played an absolute stormer to see off Tim H 3-0. Every drive was deep, every drop was tight, and just when we thought he hadnt got anything left to give in the 3rd, he demonstrated excellent rally control with some slow looping shots to seal a very well earned win.
Tim P appeared suited to the colder conditions, using his now infamous boast and volley skills to cut out any loose shots and kill them dead. At 2-1 up and 13-8 in the 4th it appeared to be over, but Ollie showed some true determination to somehow level the game and then go on to take the 5th to seal the win.
An underperforming season for Fal2 ended on a high note with promise for better fortunes in the new year if they can field similar strength sides on a regular basis. |

Notes: | What a great match report! I know some captains who haven’t written a single word yet! Well done Tom and the Fal2 team who certainly proved this time that they can be formidable opponents! Captain Alex played a blinder - great news! Credit and big thanks to both teams for rearranging when the Pirates needed to. More nights like these in the Spring League gentlemen please! |
