Report

Report:A surprising and most welcome result for Bude, who were weakened by the absence of their inspirational captain. Ali and Robin were delighted to reverse prior form against Dave and Tony, with both Bude boys using a combination of pace and volley-drops to keep their opponents off balance. Team squash having only just restarted, however, I suspect the Truro old guard will dust off the cobwebs and come roaring back for their home fixture, which should be a cracker. Credit also goes to Tony S, who brought home a win by sheer will-power despite some trademark tricksiness from Gary, and to Fin whose epic battle with Julian (is there ever an easy match against Julian?) brought an end to proceedings in fine style. Looking forward to resuming match teas in the New Year.

Away Report

Away Report:Good report, captain, and looking forward to your return to our beautiful game. Truro put up a fair fight but age was certainly a deciding factor in three of the rubbers. Tony (yours truly) was picked off easily by youthful Robin who probably got 90% of his points in the front left hand corner an area unvisited by his oppo! Both Dave and Gary fought back from 2-0 down but both Ali and Tony (best knees competition winner) dug in the close out the 4th. Match of the night was undoubtedly Fin v Julian. A great watch as we supped our beers, the play ebbed one way then another and at one point (or is that pint?) it looked like the home starlet might not rtn from an urgent visited to the small room! The 5th was a fitting climax to a good tussle with Fin holding his nerve a little more than the in-form Truronian. The Budists deserved their win but the Truro old guard will relish another go at Hendra in November! Mystery of the night: did Gary sign a pre-transfer contract with Bude or are negotiations still ongoing? Not sure if his agent will get much out of the deal! Second mystery: will Ali play again before Xmas?

Administrator Notes

Notes:Bude too powerful and young for the geriaticos of Truro. Bude unbeaten, TR4 suffer their first reversal. Big winner was squash though, let’s keep it going guys! Good to see the Budists!
