Home | Return to Division Fixtures
Report: | And a spicy return fixture it was. Unfortunately Truro 4 had to travel without their new Mascot Baz, and without Julian.
The Pirates with a stronger side than in October.
Katrina on first against Adrian. Katrina had not lost a game this season, and was determined to keep it that way. However a very close first game went to Adrian 15-13.
Adrian, feeling a bit weary after his Covid booster, had to finish the match in 3, not to run out of steam in the end. Home court advantage helped , and Adrian secured the first points for the Pirates.
Team Captain Gaza, who joined the away side on short notice, could not find his rythm, and had to give in to Neythan 3-0.
Next on Ian vs Si. A very entertaining match, especially after the second game went to Si 18-20.
Ian, feeling the effects of his recent Berlin trip and the long second game, also had to leave the 3rd game to Si.
But with all his experience and his dives (and this time Ian actually managed to get up again after one of his dives and carry on with the rally), he secured the third win for The Pirates.
The number 1 Pirate Nigel had to play the newly crowned County Champion. The "Master" started to play his tactical game, but Nigel, playing almost faultlessly on his newly refurbished home court, managed to keep Dave at bay, and reversed the away match result to give The Pirates a 4-0 win.
A great win for The Pirates, and not quite as spicy as Truro 4 might have hoped. Is Bude within reach again???
Thank you Truro 4 for a nice evening. |

Away Report: | A fine match played in the right spirit creating a good atmosphere as always. Shame about the result but full marks to the Pirates for gaining revenge after suffering a similar defeat in the away fixture. Pirates put out a stronger side but Gaza’s men were without Julian, Jon and Tony so weakened (not making excuses, honestly). On the night Adrian, Neythan and Nige were just too good. Hatchy looked out of sorts after escapades abroad and Si Tai has improved enough to look the likely winner at 2-1 but the PZ stalwart pulled out all the stops to grab a victory from the jars of defeat. That aside it was the most entertaining rubber by far thanks to some last gasp diving across the court and a shot played whilst still on the floor! Incredible stuff! It’s never a happy hunting ground for Truro anyway. We enjoyed our evening but the journey back was a bit quiet!!! |

Notes: | Pirates have an outside chance of the title but it would need a huge slip up by the Budists. Maybe that banana skin could be the last match when they play each other at PZ! Spicy one! |
