| Report: | A thoroughly enjoyable evening of squash. Crucially, both teams were able to field decent sides, making for a tight contest through the card, and the matches were played in great spirits. Mark had just too much for Richard all the way through in a hard-fought battle at 4, while Neythan dug deep to grind out a win against a fast-improving Robin, whose generous error count is steadily dropping. Ali vs Hatchy was probably the game of the night, with the former pulling out “the best squash I’ve ever seen him play” (Fin) … and needing to against the wily Pirate to edge the first two very tight games. The final match saw Fin exact long-awaited revenge against the ever-green Nigel, playing with maturity, discipline and pace. Pizzas afterwards in the bar … and talk of adding a poker fixture into the mix at some point in the future. |
