Report

Report: The Pirates brought a depleted side to Truro HQ so big thanks to Phil and Tim for stepping in to make the fixture happen. Truro capitalised by putting out a strong side with as yet undefeated Kat (aka Superwoman) making the average age look reasonable for once. All four encounters were highly entertaining but pick of the bunch was Hatchy v Julian. The Truro player always goes to 5 as everybody knows, so never a dull moment but it wasn’t until the final games that we had any full-on Hatchy slides across the court! A sign of desperation maybe but we love them! There was also controversy but marker Dave held firm and used all his authority to stamp out any Pirate dissent! Julian had predictably worn Hatchy out to take the 5th comfortably to great applause from the fan zone in the balcony. Truro now have 5 month old puppy Baz as their mascot. He made his debut appearance at a home game and will doubtlessly be an internet sensation on our CCSRA FB page. Please like and share! Katrina played almost faultlessly against Tim and looks to be in great form. Good line and length were deciding factors. Tim appears to have stopped boasting but playing so much racketball does do that to you! Captain Gaza played wily Pirate stalwart Phil (aka the curry man) who like Tim was making his debut this season. Gaza was intent on a fast and furious start so it wasn’t until the 3rd that Phil settled. He took it 17-15 denying his opponent at least one match ball. The Truro captain was highly relieved to get the W in the end. Last on Dave v Adrian was always going to be a tense match and it certainly took a while to heat up. The 3rd was the closest but Dave had no intention of prolonging the encounter especially as Adrian started to move better and looked far more menacing with his returns. All too late though! Any Truro win v the Pirates guarantees a spicy return fixture! We’ll need Baz that night! Great to see the bar open and spectators enjoying a bevy or two! Baz hasn’t been introduced to that yet!
