Report

Report: Newquay 2 were visited by Truro 2 and with Newquay beset once again with injury they were always going to have their work cut out.

Dave Priem went on first against Tom Newberry. The first two games were touch and go with some attacking squash from both players.Dave just keeping his head on the vital points taking a 2-0 lead .Unfortunately in the third Dave's achilies heel came back and he had to retire injured.

Next on was a debut for Luke Hampshaw as Mike Morgan was out injured with a bad back.Luke was playing a very focused Ben Thorpe.Luke took a while to adjust to the pace of the game losing the first 15-4.But with every game Luke gained more points and although no match for Ben put in a Sterling effort.

Darren Shaw was on next.Having been out for a month with a neck injury this was always going to be tough against the younger brother of the mighty Jared and father Jack.Darren started well and was in every game although his lack of match play told. With Owen playing the best squash of his career Darren just couldn't snatch a game and Owen ran out a 3-0 winner.

Last on was Gavin Johnson against Jared London. This was always going to be a tough match for Gavin with Jared being a multiple County champion and playing at the peak of his squash abilities.Gavin managed five points in the first and third game and sadly only two in the second the twenty year or so age gap playing a part.

So Newquay 2 have a lot of work to do if they are too stave off relegation.Hopefully at some point they will be injury free.
