Report: | I wasn't able to add a player who was subbed in (Peter Oldcorn) over Dougie Foster. Both teams missing some key players but Penzance won the rubber comfortably, although CSM gave a few tight games. Penzance were helpful with the marking as CSM still inexperienced. |

Away Report: | ' First up was Phil keen to wear his lime green team shirt (colour picked by Hatchy this year) Phil a rare member of the team off to a flying start for the pirates despite having a wake call by Petes height and reach so forced to play tight. Asound 3/0 win. Next up was Adrian against Alan. This started to look like a potential battle royal but Adrian managed to move the ball around keeping Alan moving which started to show cracks appear and the Pirate then ruthless in his play. Wayne got off to a shoddy start as Matthews agility and shots caused a few surprises. Wayne losing the first game. However normal service then resumed and Waynes movement and accuracy proved itself time and time again. Tim playing at 1 this week faced the very quick Francis which meant Tim had to dig deep into his fitness reserves to keep up with Francis who appeared to get everywhere. The close second game could have gone either way but the Pirate was up to the task and earned every mouthful of his curry and pint finishing off a very good evening. Great to see a new team and fresh faces.' |

Notes: | All good with some tight games and Matt nicking a game off the Pirates' rising star Quinny. I've tweaked the nominations as they are locked to avoid those variable playing orders we used to get back in the day. You know, 'I've had a cold so I'll need to play #4 tonight' kind of antics! I'm glad the students are enjoying their introduction to Cornish squash and they'll get better with youth on their side and more games under their belts. I note the Pirates gave the ever faithful reserves a run out which is pleasing especially Phil the Curry Man. Lime green shirt? There’s got to be a rule against that, if not we’ll make one! Lime green pirates??? Alan played well in the first v Adrian and delighted he is turning out for his students in times of need. Alfie is doing a grand job and we're cock-a-hoop (now there's a phrase!) to have the students back. |
