| Report: | Bodmin hosted Bude on the visitors shortest trip in division 2. (Still an hours drive!) Both teams wanting the points with Bude still chasing promotion.
The best match came on court first with Darren playing Robin. Darren’s fitness has improved massively and after his victory against Tim last week in the pirates, he was looking to make it two for two. Robin however was the better player in the first two sets, volleying the ball early giving Darren little chance. A few mistakes creeped in allowing Darren a small window and that is all he needed to fight back for the decider. Unfortunately (for us) he was unable to take the 5th.
Next up, I played Rob in a battle of two players needing fitness to assist some alright Squash. A tight first was clinched by Rob and although I felt stronger during the second, Rob’s boasts deceived me well and gave him a 2-0 lead. I played well (Well better) in the 3rd and was hoping to go one better then Darren and take the 5th but too many unforced errors cost me the fourth and tie. 0-2 Bude.
Ali and Andy played during our match so I could not comment on the game although I did see one rare moment of Andy hitting a dropshot!!! More of these I feel would of been needed to have taken a game from Ali. 0-3 Ali and Bude.
Final match saw Mike looking to salvage something for Bodmin but could only suffer the same fate as Tremaine played well. Mike will feel he should of taken the second after going 12-10 up but Mr Fry and his moustache had enough.
0-4 Bude and probably deserved! Happy Birthday Robin! |
