Report

Report:Bodmin seconds hosted Falmouth 3 this week in the start of the return fixtures of 2020. Both teams arrived with strong line ups hoping to get as many points as possible. On court first was myself (Tom) against a youthful Zak (needs to be added on the system please!) who I hope enjoyed his first experience in the county leagues. He will definitely improve overtime but this time I had enough in the bag for the W. Next up was little vs large with Darren challenging Pete. After a very tight first game with a lot of good squash, Darren managed to steal it giving Bodmin big hope. However Pete showed endurance and another gear to win the next three by cutting the ball off with some good volleys. Andy against Alex had the same scoreline in Falmouth’s favour again. Andy has come on a lot but will have to learn to kill the ball if he wants to win his remaining matches this season. With Falmouth 6-5 up for the night it meant Mike had to win his match for us to have had any chance. Huw has recently been getting the better of Mike but the later started strongest winning the first game with incredible speed around the court. Huw came back strong taking the next two with both players killing the ball well. Mike took the fourth to force the decider but could not get the W he was after meaning Falmouth were able to travel back the victors. Meanwhile we should be happy with a good points haul as a tricky visit to the Pirates is next!

Administrator Notes

Notes:Oh dear! The Pirates next and they’ve just been duffed up at BUDE - hope the Dragons don’t get it by way of revenge!! Great report, Tom! Sounds like a competitive night with a young Zac Hudson making his debut. I’m guessing he’s Gareth’s son so the talent for squash should all be there!! I agree, with youngsters always try to get in a W early! Next time around might be different!! Zac is nominated now. Falmouth have a squad almost the the size of Tr4’s but does size matter? Little and Large Show May me chuckle! Mike nearly pipped Huw but like you say it’s been Huw who’s won most lately.
