Report: | The Slayers welcomed Pete and the first half Champs to the Den.
Pete was there when I arrived and immediately I could sense his red bull induced enthusiasm and energy. Matt and Pete were on first, Peters demeaner was cool and calm, but you could tell that underneath he was bursting at the seams. His cool head mixed with calculating shots saw him take an early lead reaching 10-2. This setting him up to take the first comfortably.
Matt had heard tales afar about Pistol Pete, but what he was encountering was a different animal completely. Matt finding his backhand lengths in the 2nd saw a much closer game, ultimately to no avail though as Big P's onslaught continued. Model player Peter was holding it together, and with every attempt Matt had a getting back into the game, P Dogg kept it cool and his2 point barrier in tact. Taking the 3rd and the W Pete let out a well earned war cry as he started his transition from Player to mentor.
Entering the arena next was Rhys and Huw.
Pete came up to the balcony and he found out that we can get wifi at the centre if we log in to the cloud. Thanks Pete. Pete was happy with this and took a Pew to watch Huw.
Huw and Rhys came out and beat the ball to an inch of its life, with the game neck and neck, Peters guided encouragement saw Huw over the line to clinch the first.
Downstairs Argyle Pete was giving Huw details of how to capitalise on his first game triumph, unfortunately Rhys decided he was having none of it and went 9-1 up before taking the game 15-6.
Peter had some rethinking to do, then passed on the new plan to Huw who really took the game to Rhys again. The 3rd going all the way with The Welsh Dragon taking the vital game. With Pete exhausted of ideas for Huw, he could only watch and Rhys took the 4th and the W.
Peter returned to the balcony for the next game as Gareth and Matt took to the court.
Both players flying out of the blocks playing some great squash, Pete was impressed with Matt and Matt knew it.
The second game was just as close going this distance as well but this time Gareth edging it. With everything to play for Gareth stormed the 3rd, much to Big P's disappointment. With peter unable to watch parts, beside himself at some Matts mistakes Gareth took crucial 2-1 lead.
With Pete reset the 4th took place, and with Peters gentle encouragement Matt was back in the game. Unfortunately for Pete this was to no avail and Gareth took the 4th and the win, setting up his 3rd straight win in a row on his comeback.
Last on was me against Jon. P Dog was up on the balcony with his compatriots. Jon, who had confessed to getting a buzz when he hits a working length came out playing some great squash. The first was a close one going all the way. Peter was really happy for Jon who took the first game. The model spectator had even more to be pleased about too as Jon took the second.
With things going Pete's way the balcony was a happy place. But the Slayers decided to fight back and took the 3rd. This waking Big p up a bit and when Jon pulled out (giggity) a sublime drop shot nic from the back of the court he nearly lost it. I think it was safe to say that Jon had impressed Plymouth Pete wit that shot. Jon took the 4th which earned Peter and co the away win.
All great evening had by all with good squash followed by spoons finest Big P had a good night out with the Falmouth boys. Looking forward to the return leg. |

Away Report: | 'Thank you for the match report Max.
A good night of top notch squash and top banter to go with it.
All bodmin and Falmouth players were supportive and curtious to their own and the other team. With tight drops from Jonny, good cross court nicks from Gareth and tight length from Peter ''D'' Terminator Keam.
The 1st team have always welcomed players from the second division and will continue to do so. They are an asset to the first''s.' |

Notes: | Love the witty report and sounds like it was quite tight on the night. Jonny, fresh from his inter county weekend in Hove, seems to be regaining some of that form that made home County Leagues top dog before Christmas. Max would have got stuck in though! Rhys, the original Welsh Dragon, will be delighted with this W after coming from behind as well. Darren may need medical attention, particularly from a psychologist, following his experience at confronting Falmouth's secret weapon the one and only Pistol Pete! A smash and grab display from the visitor - well done Pete!
I often find it quiet when we play in Bodmin. Not sure it was for this match! TB |
