Report: | The second game for the 1st's this week, and having beaten Bodmin away 2 days beforehand Falmouth were feeling pumped.
With a slight change of team, T Hackett joined us and we lost Peter D Keam (some say he had a calling to the priesthood so couldn’t make it).
Jonny on first and unfortunately wasn’t on his usual top form. Phil was clearly after some revenge, and despite Jonny trying to distract Phil with an outstretched bottom, and it was Phil who took the lead and managed to keep the shots tight winning 3-0.
With the NOBS captain struggling to find a full team, he had to dig deep and bring out the dregs....So played himself. Despite the years of experience and the pacemaker turned up to 'Sport' mode, the 'menstruating mentor' struggled with the Tamblyn pace and lost 3-0.
Next up was Martin T vs Matt W. I was in the shower for this. But I think it started with Waterton Winning Wildly, then Martin Making a Magnificant Marked comeback (yes thats a great bit of alliteration, which considering there were 3 teachers playing tonight I think is an excellent use of my vocabulary).
Also it was great to hear Matt W is out of the Travel lodge and back to using all of his muscles again.
Finally, two rivals up against each other. Not too well-known rivals as such, but both ex Birmingham uni graduates who had played each other many times before. Adam Tatlow (yes Petes son) came down for a run around. Considering he hasn’t played for 5 years he did pretty well, and probably made Hackett tighten his game up considerably. Adam had to change his shoes half after the first game as the moths had eaten the soles away. Final score 3-2 to Hackett which not only boosted his morale (he lost to mike Batter the night before), it also won Falmouth the match and took home a well needed 12 points.

Notes: | Falmouth bag 12 useful pts and NQY1 bring in a very useful new reserve, former county plate winner Adam T son of Pete (not the priesthood variety though there are rumours he has fathered quite a few up and down the county!). I hope Adam enjoyed it, quite a talent we would love to have back. Tom v Adam was a Brum Uni Alumni match up! Bet they went off for a curry afterwards! Quite an education theme going on with so many ‘sirs’ playing. Great Martin getting his bat out more regularly now though bet he can’t wait for the injuries to the regulars to clear up. Martin v Loved Up Matt - good one!
Great report, Matt! Best I’ve read all week. Certainly the funniest! Two house points and extra playtime. |
