Report

Report:What a match! One of those classic evenings when the final score is no reflection of what happened. 3 of the matches went to five and each could have gone either way.
Both teams were understrength mainly due to injuries but at least Falmouth have already qualified for the end of season final. TR3 are fighting a relegation battle but will soon be welcoming back Rory and Simmo, so hope is in the air!
The Master, Dave Matthew, started proceedings against Christian who hadn't faired well against Matt Kemp the night before v TR4. Once again, we could all see why he's called the Master, although Christian put up a good fight in the last two games. However, Dave's array of lobs, boasts and drops was clinical and the result never looked in doubt.
Captain Tim was up next against Matt who was the clear favourite but what a treat was in store for the several spectators present. To be fair, both players weren't playing their tightest squash but it proved to be a nail-biting affair, particularly the 5th with Tim finally securing a great win 16-14. It's certainly his best performance of the season so far....big congrats to the Skip!
In the next match, Jon was looking for revenge having lost 0-3 to Huw only last month at Falmouth. Again, it proved to be a titanic battle with a couple of 'interesting' marking decisions from the Master! Pete Madsen must take credit for Jon taking the 5th after some sage advice whilst JW was gulping for air. I'm sure Huw will be looking forward to our next match, as will I as they're always close!
Thus, the match was won so Tim could go on against Martin and 'relax'! Without doubt, it was an A1 performance from Tim with incredible physicality and total desire for a result. It was another tight five setter but Tim showed the same determination as the other TR3 players....we just wanted it more and we took the spoils.
It's always great to meet up with the Falmouth clan. However, it was very sad to see Jonny come in on crutches having torn his Achilles last week but he was still in good spirits. We all wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing the Fal boys at future squash and racketball events.
As always, thanks to Clare for great refreshment!
