Report

Report:Truro 2 versus Bodmin 1 was a ‘bottom of the table double-header’. With points counting double, a lot was riding on each match.

At 4th-string Joe took on Dave. This was a really good match to watch. Dave played great squash and was very supportive of his junior counterpart. He helped ensure that the match was played in the best of spirits. After Dave took a very close 1st game, Joe improved his length and accuracy and managed to win 3-1.

Owen played Mike next. Owen started off well, taking the 1st game. But then Owen’s error count increased dramatically and Mike’s retrieval was telling. Owen was lucky to win it in 4, with the last game very close at 16-14. Great performance from Mike.

Next was Jack versus Gavin. Gavins’ technique was very impressive. Jack’s movement after injury is improving by the week. Rallies were very impressive between both players. Great length and great short games. Error count from Gavin was a little higher at key points of each game. Great to see Jack back and firing on (almost) all cylinders. 3-0 win for Jack.

Last up was Louis versus Max. Another really good game. Max competed throughout the match. Louis’ accuracy, retrieval and length was telling. He was very patient at key moments of the match, forcing Max into mistakes. Another really good squash match to watch.

So although Truro 2 won 15-2 (doubled up as it was a ‘double-header’), Bodmin 1 competed throughout the order. Looks like Truro 2 may have moved away from the relegation zone for the time being.
