Report

Report: Newquay 2 were visited by Truro 2 who must have had one of the youngest average aged teams to have played in the Cornwall County league.

Mike Morgan went on first against Joe Thompson. The first game was close with Joe not overawed by (Mad) Mike's behavior
Joe hitting the ball with a lot of power and using his height to volley well.Mike took the first game 15-13and although the next two games weren't as close Joe's head never went down to his credit. Mike taking the match 3-0.

Next on court was Russ Harvey against Callum Oliver (quite possibly a the biggest age gap between the players in a Cornwall County match!) Callum held his own in the first game moving Russ around mixing tight drop shots with hard hitting length. This time though Russ had too much experience and was able to run out the 3-0 winner.

Darren Shaw went on next against the rangey Owen London. Darren got off to a great start taking the first game 15-4. And with Owen literally whipping himself into shape at the end of that game. It must of worked as Owen came out for the second game a different player. Owen prelonging the rallies and taking the ball early on the tee with his big wing span. Darren put in a great effort but Owen was to strong on the night taking the match3-1.

The best was certainly saved till last with Matt Harford playing Louis Murray. The first two games went too the older player with Matt using all his knowledge of the game too move Louis around the court and volley with great accuracy and touch. A lesser juniors head would of perhaps gone down, but this wasn't the case as Louis fought back taking the match to a fifth and final game. Matt put everything into the Fifth game but the age difference played a part, and with Matt becoming fatigued Louis just got stronger taking the match 3-2.

So Newquay 2 taking the spoils but dropping points on the way and a great performance put up by the youngsters.
