Away Report

Away Report:' Pirates better on the water than travelling overland to Falmouth. Late injury to Nigel meant Gareth out of retirement (where I should have stayed) to keep our 100% record of fielding a team no surprise a 3/0 defeat so uphill for the rest of the team Wayne quick out of the blocks and no errors meant a dominant first game meant Christian had to make a sprint start in the second game. Christian capitalised on Waynes errors that crept into his game. The pirate after a interval regained control and agility to secure a good 3/1 win. All eyes now on Tim back in the team albeit Jet lag and lack of court time for a while All looked good when Tim took the first game but Tom was having none of it and persevered levelled the scores. The third game close with Tim failing to take the advantage at 14 each. Tom now confidence flying made a quick meal of the final game. Next came Ian hoping to take a 3/0 with few points to Ollie to put the prospect of countback in favour of the Pirates. He managed the 3/0 but my poor point scoring early on made it a countback win to Falmouth. So merry Christmas and a Happy new year.

Administrator Notes

Notes:Hopes of RU in Div2 for the Pirates dashed by an unexpected first win for Oli’s charges! Admittedly, Gareth’s team was somewhat weakened by the absence of Nigel who has been in great form of late. Nonetheless the home side rolled up their sleeves and did the job! Tom did something rare in the division - a double win home and away against the wily skid boasting Tim. He will be pleased (Tom that is!). Quinny is definitely adding more to his game and this W rates as one of his best. Maybe Christian, himself as fit as a butcher’s dog, just ran out of ideas as Quinny ran down everything? I can only guess! So it came down to the final rubber and an eventual count back. I’m sure there were beaming smiles when Oli worked out the W!!! Losing can sometimes mean winning when you get enough points! A jubilant apres squash in the clubhouse with this double header evening producing an exciting climax to the Aut League! Champs BUDE are now The Invincibles with the dub title won with 10 wins out of 10, Fal3 get their first win on the board, Fal2 take R/U thanks to that and Huw becomes Mr Invincible as the only unbeaten player in the Cornwall leagues! Happy days.....sorry Pirates!!!
