Report

Report:14 pts for TR4 is a little bit flattering given that Fal2 gave a very good account of themselves tonight. Unfortunately just as the #1s got going with some tense, highly entertaining rallying Oli pulled up with a calf problem in the third against Julian - hope the injury is not long term! Katrina continues to be the standout player for the TR4 side with 3 out of 3 wins, the only unbeaten member of the squad along with Gary (who happens to be injured, just in case you were wondering why a player of his calibre is still unbeaten this season!). I didn’t watch her play Billy but by all accounts it was a good match with plenty of tight winners. Who can topple Katrina when she’s clearly playing her best in ages? Si Tai looked nervy against Tom J but came from behind twice to restore parity at 2-2. Eventually, Tom’s speedy court coverage and younger legs took home the bacon in what was undoubtedly the Match of the Day! We all needed a rest after watching that one! Si did look drained but he’ll take heart from this better display. Dr Tom, the pirate basher of last week, must have fancied another scalp this week and he’s certainly looking like a lean, mean squash machine these days! Now if there’s one thing you have to do against the Master, however, it’s return his floated lob serves well away from his bat! Return onto his waiting volley and it’s invariably curtains! Unfortunately Tom’s returns were punished all too often in the 2nd as Dave moved up a visible gear. The key to the match was the 17-15 4th game which Dave took after Tom missed 2 good chances to take it. Had Tom taken the 4th I’m not sure Dave would have survived given his look of sheer exhaustion! Can TR4 win at Falmouth next week v the Huwligans to make it a clean sweep of 4 wins against them? Falmouth might have something to say about that. Not sure TR4 can whitewash the old enemy?

Administrator Notes

Notes:Good match, fair marking, good atmosphere.
TR4 go top by 8 pts at least for a few days.
At least they are pushing the Budists all the way. Tremaine’s departure to the Southern Hemisphere could be crucial!
