Report

Report:A solid home win for Bude after a nip and tuck affair at Penzance last week. Chris at 4 avoided his habitual party trick of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and saw out a convincing 3-0 win over the battling Billy. Ali had a far more testing time at 3 against Christian, who has hit the gym and transformed himself into a lean, mean squash machine. The match swung one way then the other as Christian’s improved fitness began to tell, but Ali kept his composure and ground out a result in a tight 5th game that went to the wire. Fin stepped back on court against an under-the-weather Tom at 2 after a long lay off and a summer spent partying on the beach. After a slightly rusty start, he closed out the first, before hitting his stride properly mid-way through the second. Tom fought gamely, but Fin was firmly in the driving seat from that point on, playing with patience and discipline and making good use of disguise. He dominated a one-sided third game as Tom started to flag to take the match 3-0. The battle between Olly and Tremaine was perhaps closer than the 3-1 score line suggests, with some great rallies and impressive athleticism on display. Tremaine’s fitness and judicious use of front court play proved the deciding factors in the end, and he made it a clean sweep for the home side. As ever, all matches were played with great sportsmanship and good humour. Entertainingly inappropriate frivolity in the bar afterwards rounded off a very enjoyable night.

Administrator Notes

Notes:Good to see Oli back after injury but a result you could put money on. Does anyone know the stat about the last time the Budists lost at home in Div2? Good to see Billy having a good game but Chris has gone up a notch or two recently. Tremaine loves to run and Oli must have been drained after the 16-14 game he won. Tom not well? Needs to see a doctor methinks! Ali challenged by the ever-improving, lean and mean squash machine Christian - doesn’t surprise us! Best of the four on the evening. Fin back on crt after a summer of love 💕 and playing reasonably well. Good news! A clean sweep in the end as the Budists, unbeaten in two, move ominously into 2nd with a home match against top of the table TR4 next week. Hmmmmm...... anyone got that stat yet?!!!?
