Report: | After a half hour delay for TR1 to refind Newquay Sports Center, Matches kicked off on both courts with Meggo v Zef and Matt v Steve on at the same time.
Meggo put in a great effort, emulating Ian Hatch and diving for the ball. Zef was just a bit stronger on this occasion and took the win 3-1. On court 2, an up and down match between Matt and Steve was fought out on an increasingly hotter court. Steve seeing off a spirited comeback to win 3-2. Tempers frayed on Court 1 as Mark took on Neil. Neil’s racket took the most punishment in the 0-3 loss to Mark and ended up in the bin. Phil vs George was a marathon of hard hitting and retrieving...a fantastic game of squash to watch with incredible gets, nicks and winners. Phil proving just a bit too strong for George in a 3-1 win. Beers and food was enjoyed at ‘Spoons’ as the centre has just changed hands again! A great evening of squash and solid win for the NOBs! |

Notes: | Congrats the NOBs and great report Matt. George is obviously edging closer to full form and Neil looks like his old self breaking costly rackets! Thought he’d mellowed with age! Matt v Stevie D had 3-2 written all over it - Stevie only does 3-2s - but finally the Truro man got a 5th in the bag! Bad luck Matt! Meggo did really well to Hatch-like fling himself around the crt at his age and a game against the best #4 last season will spur him on. Zeph meanwhile may need more court time to get back to his best! Phil and Mark at 1 and 2 will be hard to beat for any team. Glad the uncertainty about the centre is resolved and let’s look forward to more good nights at the home of the reigning Champs. |
