Away Report: | ' Newquay 2 travelled to Truro 3 for what appeared to be a top of the table versus bottom of the table clash. But with Truro 3 missing there number 1Rory Brickell and Newquay 2 virtually back to full strength it looked to be a good match up.
Mike Morgan went on first against Tim May, and with the frosty winter nights coming in the ball needed a damn good warm up, which Mike gave to it! This game on paper looked like it could be quite tight, but with Mike bringing his A game and Tim struggling to find form, Mike despatched Tim in double quick time 3-0.
Next on was Dave Priem against Pete Walker. Again on paper this looked to be a close encounter of the third kind. The first game could of gone either way with Dave using the whole of his racket to win the rally on more than one occasion! Dave taking the game15-13.Peter had a big lead in the second but Dave managed too caw it back just taking the game18-16.Again the third game was close but Dave managed too edge the game 15-12 taking the match 3-0.
Next on was Darren Shaw against Pete Simmons. With Darren coming in off the back of a great win against Martin Thompson his confidence was high and it showed taking the first game easily and 15-6.Pete has played the the game to long to let that unsettle be him and he hit back taking a close second game 15-13.Pete then began to find his range with his winning shots and touch at the front of the court, taking the next two games to win the match3-1.
Last on was Matt Harford against Tim Smith. Matt getting off to the cinema ultimate Bagel start and things didn''t get much better for Tim after that with Matt taking the match for a few points.
So Newquay get a cracking result against Christmas title hopefuls Truro 3. and that may still keep the cat amongst the pigeons! ' |

Notes: | Title race blown wide open again! Just the stuff the neutrals love to see! TR3 have one match left away at NQY1 next Weds so must put out their strongest side and go for the max in points. Reason: Fal1 will draw level on points if they beat The Slayers at Western Terrace next Thursday and have a match in hand at home to TR2. Anything less than a 15 for TR3 this week will mean Falmouth will be in the driving seat. If Falmouth win both by 15 pts and TR3 win by the same then both teams will be on equal points at the top. I'm scratching my head now! If that happens there will have to be a rule sitting somewhere to decide the winner........ummm! Found it:
'In the event of a tie, the leading team shall be the one that has won the most fixtures. Should this not resolve the issue, then the results from the matches played by the teams against each other will count.'
Easy! Wrong! Both will have lost 3 times so equal there. Fal won at TR3 2/10 3-1 and guess what....TR3 won the corresponding fixture on 18/11 3-1! So equal on games won........
It'll be a POINTS COUNTBACK!!! And.........
More to follow.......
By the way, GREAT REPORT DAVE!!! |
