Report

Report:Truro 3 visited a decimated Newquay 2 team who managed to put together a team of the likes we have never seen before.

First on was the tenacious OAP Russ Harvey against Tim May. This match had everything including a whole host of decisions to be made by the marker! The final game epitomised the match, close, gritty and with some shots going down the side wall! Tim taking the final game 22-20 in a match that won't be forgotten especially by the marker!

Next on was the drafted in Wiley Kev Hugh against ex County number one Pete Simmons! Kev managing to make a fist of the first game, using all his years of experience to move the ball around the court. Although Pete is no spring chicken he has managed to retain a great level of fitness and this helped him push through the match taking it 3-0.

Next on was Mike Morgan against Tim Smith. Mike managed to push Tim in the first two games varying the pace and putting in some lovely drop shots. Tim however showing he hasn't lost any of his retrieval skills and grinding Mike down into submission taking the final game easily for a 3-0 win.

Last on was Dave Priem against Rory Brickell. This looked set to be a one sided affair and it was! Dave putting up his best effort in the first game. But with Rory under no pressure controlling the T with accurate hitting and moving Dave around with ease. Rory taking the match 3-0 and not needing a shower afterwards!

So Truro 3 win the match easily, and who knows what the future holds for last year's crest fallen champions!

Administrator Notes

Notes:Crest-fallen heroes indeed but Dave did a fantastic job keeping the fixture alive with reserves and moving himself up to #1 for probably the first time in quite a few years! Tim v Russ game 4 at 22-20 is a record for this season so far! I do hope the winner wasn't a jammy wood shot spinning into the nick? Great match and great to see the old warhorse back in team colours. Nice one Kev making it up from the big city to taste Cornish squash again! Morgy (aka Mad Mike) must be playing well to push Tim around. I just had a thought writing this.....who had the most hair on the night....and I mean head hair before you start? Some shiny scalps indeed! Great report Dave! TR3 build up an unassailable lead.......
