Home | Return to Division Fixtures
Report: | The night started off with the much anticipated Chris vs Rory, which unfortunately never materialised, with Chris carrying a injury picked up from the previous V over Matt last week. Chris had to retire after the first to prevent further injury. A wise move with such a long season ahead. Very much looking forward to this match on the return fixture though.
New kid on the block Matt was up next against Tim May, I didn't get to see this one as I was marking on the next court, but from what I heard and from the scores, it seemed a good competitive match played in great spirits. A good win for Tim, and Matt reaching double figures in every game I cant help but feel he will start picking up some valuable Division 1 points.
Rhys was up against the ever cool Simmo. It was a strange one for Rhys who never relaxed into the game, which let Pete work his magic and picked Rhys off which his usual flare. Again this is a return fixture I will enjoy watching as I know Rhys will be very much up for it. Good game guys.
Last on was Me (Max) against Mr Tim Smith, whose youthful running and athleticism never fade! A very close match with some great rallies. Both playing some great winners, but Tim taking the W on the night with a well fought battle. I very much enjoyed this one even with the loss, as at the end of the day the reason we all travel around the county is for our love of squash, and you can't beat a well contested 5 seter. I left the court about two pounds lighter and with a big smile on my face, I'm coming for you in the rematch Tim! haha |

Notes: | TR3 fly out of the blocks with two Ws and just 2 pts dropped so far? That's a change in early season fortunes we can all applaud for the deposed ex-serial champs! Watch out NQY, watch out the rest, they're looking lean and mean....
Great report Max and so glad so had a great hit with Tim. You hit the nail on the head with your comment about the well-contested 5 setter! Tim is no 8 in the country now at Masters O50 and he's promised to leave his body to science like Neil (our other O50 Peter Pan in the top echelon of Masters!)! Indeed, let's hope an England cap will happen....please, please!
Shame about Chris, such a classy player, and let's hope his injury clears up. Matt I don't know, but hope he gets to grips with county squash soon. Rhys - I wonder if that back complaint troubled him? However, Simmo is a class act and that forehand is a monster which everyone talks about! Without Jon this season Captain Tim will get lots of games so good to see some early season form.
TR3 look to be back in top spot at Truro HQ with TR1 losing twice now and TR2 still nursing delicate injuries!
It's all good! |
