Report: | High hopes dashed by a better side! Falmouth were very worthy winners in the end but at 2-0 down in the final rubber it almost looked like Tr5 would snatch it. Out came the calculators ready for a count back! A difference of 22 pts. Surely Seb could do it. Then Oli put in an amazing captain’s innings and turned the match back in Fal2’s favour by grinding out an impressive 3-2. Even flinging himself on the floor at one point such was his determination. Well done the skipper! Christian and Tom were both quite comfortable winners against Mike and Chris who tried hard but just couldn’t put together a long enough run of points. Then on came Ras in only his second outing of the season. Tom played well and could have taken the third with just a few points needed but the Truro youngster put in a spurt to power his way to victory. Ras looked like the player he once was, great to see his revival continue. This defeat certainly leaves Tr5 at the bottom but I get the feeling they have another win or two to come. Let’s hope so! Fal2 looked a lot stronger than their league position suggests, I have to say. Great night! Looking forward to the return match! |

Notes: | Leaguewise: Falmouth 2 jump up to 5th after 6 matches played and have 6th placed PZ next. Should be a good battle with a lot of pride at stake. Tr5 thought they could catch up on Falmouth but it wasn’t to be. Bude are top after beating Oli’s team this week. Thursday sees the top two, Bude and TR4, clash at fortress Bude. We’ll know a bit more about who looks most likely to win the division after that. I have to say Bude are in irresistible form and are clear favourites.
Teamwise: great to note the progress made by players like Tom J and Christian (January’s Player of the Month), and to see youngsters like Ras and Seb enjoying playing team squash again. I’m hoping I’ll end the season at 3 at this rate. Tom H v Oli must be a good match! Tom has improved also, I note. Div2 is producing some great matches - lovely jubbly! |
