Report

Report:The definition of a great team match.
All matches going to 5 and swinging both ways.
It was the two new teams in the leagues, with a mixture of experienced team players and new players, Alan playing his second team match and David his first.
All matches played in great spirit.
First up Harry vs David a great introduction to team matches for David, with a good match up of standard, Harry playing a great forehand drop and some strong shots, David battled away and impressively squared the match 2-2 before Harry pulled away in the last game.
Then Alan vs Matt, Alan started strongly before Matt settled in and the match could have gone either way. Next up the Shire horse (Alex) vs Andy, Alex had to dig in to win this match, it was finely poised before Alex upped the pace, with Andy playing his usual decent line and length. It left Fal3 one point ahead going into the last game between Mike and Huw.
From my perspective (Huw) this was a very close battle and ended up a hard slog in the fifth, Mike had a bit more quality at the end but a very enjoyable match with some great rallies.
With the match tied at 10-10, count back ensued. Fal3 pipped it 261-256.
The match followed by Spanish Chicken which is becoming a favourite.

Overall, a great example of a team match, with new players this season in Harry, Matt, Alan and David.

Administrator Notes

Notes:Four 3-2s and a 5 pt difference countback! What a battle royal this was....and probably a very long night! 13-10 is a good points haul for both but I think Huw will be more pleased as only 2 pts dropped means Fal3 nudge closer and closer to BUDE who play tonight v a resurgent but weakened slightly TR5. I predict a W for BUDE but will be a big W or a small w? Mike v Huw: can’t believe it came down to fitness but looks like lots of rallying! Roadrunner (aka Shire Horse) will be delighted to notch up a good win v Andy who has been in form of late. Again, loads of rallying, view sweaty puddles on the floorboards! Two players I don’t know, Alan and David, had good long hits v their Draogon oppos! Falmouth have done a great job this year introducing new young players to the scene! They obviously like running too!! I remember it long ago! Great report Huw and sounds like a humdinger of a match. Squeaky bum time - Fal and BUDE are now in the home straight! What will happen? Go to Let365 and place your bets now!
