Report

Report:Newquay 2 hosted Truro 3 at the oven like Newquay sports Centre!
Dave Priem went on first against the evergreen Pete Simmons. Pete started well putting his speed and accurate hitting to good use. Pete taking the first two games with ease.Dave then hit back in the third taking a close 16-14 game.Pete then putting it to bed in the fourth 15-8 for a assured win!
Next on court was Darren Shaw against the toned physique of Joel Brickell. Joel took the first showing great precision and touch.Unfortunately this seemed to fall away in the second, Joel only managing three points. Darren then asserted himself in a tough third winning it 16-14. Joel was unable to recover from that, and Darren took the fourth, taking the match 3-1.
Mike Morgan went on next against Will Tyas. This match had everything from a very bright shirt to some great squash and banter. The scores show what a close five setter this was, Will pulling on all his fitness and reserves of stamina to take the match 3-2!
Last on was Jamie Lang against Rory Brickell. This match had a lot to live up to after the last encounter which Rory took 3-2. Rory started well taking the first two games, showing phenomenal touch and shot selection. Jamie then hit back in the third. After a team talk from captain Dave, Jamie went on to lose the fourth 15-11!!
So a match played in great spirit, and the Manchester City of Cornwall squash go hurtling towards another county title!!

Administrator Notes

Notes:Hurtling towards the title indeed! Simmo is unbeaten I think and no-one knows quite how he does it when he only plays the occasional social game! Obviously that T word - TALENT! Joel: please keep up the squash, pretty please! It's a great game and you too have talent!!! Rory v Jamie - a great head-to-head! Great win for County Player Darren!!! Now Mike v Will should have gone live on FB! 3-2 humdinger with lurid tops, great shots and good humour, a worthy Match of the Day on TV! Great report Dave! I'm nominating you for Captain of the Season but you'll have to send me a fiver too! Great stuff!
