Report

Report:Sadly for Falmouth, they were without Martin Thompson but we hope he makes a speedy recovery.

First on was Skywalker against Christian and it proved to be a good battle. Christian is looking fitter and stronger but he needs to cut down his error count.

Joel was next up against Matt and seeing as it was Joel's 3rd game of squash in 9 months, we all thought this could be close. We were right! With Matt's great retrieving and amazing reach, he more than troubled Joel and took a 2-1 lead. However, Joel knuckled down and eventually took a good 3-2 win.

Simmo, at number 3, was never in any trouble against an enthusiastic Alex who to his credit, never gives up. Week by week we're reminded why Simmo was once ranked number one in Cornwall!

As expected, the battle at number one between Rory and Jonny was a cracker. The pace of the game, the retrievals, the winners almost defy belief sometimes, especially for us oldies! It's always a great watch when these two get on court and so it proved again. Rory came out a 3-1 winner with Jonny tiring in the 4th. Get off those fags Jonny and who knows?!

The scoreline doesn't really do the match justice but I'm sure the Falmouth boys will be looking forward to 'welcoming' us to their den in a few weeks! Let's hope Martin is fit....that will be a good match!

Administrator Notes

Notes:Great Report Jon! Falmouth certainly need Martin back so let's cross fingers and hope the hamstring heals quickly. Great to hear Christian and Matt are hitting good form ahead of the County Champs this Saturday. Jonny too is in fine fettle and his match at 1 v county team roommate Rory was a cracker by all accounts. Always great on the eye even since they were juniors! That puts TR3 ahead of TR1 who went down against a rejuvenated NQY1 bolstered by new signing Phil Thomas! That puts the cat amongst the pigeons, or more precisely, those who think they might get caught up in a relegation dogfight! Neil, who sat it out due to injury, was not pleased to see his team lose away! So after three matches the reigning champs have clear daylight between themselves and rivals TR1 but the other unbeaten side, the starlets of TR2, are going about their business quietly and could be just 3 pts behind Tim May's All Stars if they beat their next opponents at St George's Rd on Tuesday! Doubt it though.....it's TR2 v TR3!!! Something has got to give!!!
