Report

Report:With Owen London twisting his ankle and Jack Mahon reacting badly to his school vaccinations, this was always going to be a very difficult match for Truro 2 against one of the strongest teams in the league.

That said, Ben at 4 string had a great match against Jon. Jon is such a beautiful player and it is true to say that 6 months ago this would not have been a contest. But Ben has come on so much recently that he was very unlucky not to take at least a game.

It was a very big ask for Adam to play Pete at 3rd string. Big-hitting Adam did well in the 1st two games but by the 3rd he couldn’t compete against the extremely smooth and fit Pete.

At 2nd string, Louis never really got started - Pete didn’t allow it. Few rallies were more than 2 or 3 shots as Pete played a sublime short game. Everything came off for Pete all the way through the match - it was a masterclass in touch and control.

In the final match Tim continued his recent good form to push Rory in each game. A very close 3-setter.

Hopefully in the return fixture Truro 2 can field a full-strength team, but congratulations to Truro 3 for a clinical whitewash.

Administrator Notes

Notes:A shame this clash of two serious title contenders was spoilt by injuries and illness. Nonetheless it underlines the strength in depth of TR3 who have easily established a commanding lead at the top of the table with 57 pts from 4 matches already and remain the only unbeaten side. That's 'daylight' with the chasers who have a game in hand, by the way. The starlets of TR2 have a long way to go now if they want to be in contention but with their incredible potential for improvement we can't rule them out at this early stage. Ben is the Cornwall's most improved player with a 101% rise since the season began, for example. Jack and Louis? Watch this space! In all, I do sense an air of panic elsewhere though both NQY sides, injury free that is, have the ability to upset the odds so plenty of twists and turns yet. Well, that's what the neutrals are hoping for! Nice report Alan but could you please enter the results with No1s at top, ta!
