Report: | The match between Owen and Julian was a cracker. Owen's movement and shot selection is getting better and better as the season goes on, but Julian stuck with Owen, pushed him close in the 1st, and deservedly took the 3rd. But then Owen moved up a gear and won the match 3-1.
Louis and Zef had never played each other before and this turned out to be a lovely match. Louis was well on top in the 1st game, but Zef steadied the ship and came back strong in the 2nd. Louis' concentration and focus towards the end of games is impressive, winning a close 2nd and being game balls down in the 3rd before taking it 16-14. Some of the shotmaking and retrieval from both players was absolutely stunning. A great match to watch.
The match between Jack and Steve was close in the 1st (10-10), but then Jack powered on. Steve competed well in the 1st part of each of the next two games, but Jack's movement and pressure told. Superb skill and control from Jack. Another really good match to watch.
Although I did not see the last match between Tim and George, I am sure Tim was very pleased to compete in all games as he is coming back from injury, and almost took the third game. George won Truro 1s only match of the night (3-0).
A good match for Truro 2 - who now must have their eye on 3rd place. Matches running out now for Truro 1 to win it. |

Notes: | TR2 begin their catch-up on fixtures with a good mauling of the 2nd strongest team hitherto! 3rd seems a feasible aim. Owen would be delighted to have beaten Julian who is one of the top Div2 Number 1s. Owen looked assured, if a little too much so at times, and Julian always starts slow but a good match to watch I'm sure. Louis marches on impressively and a 3 zip v Zef is a great return to the domestic scene. Another encounter of high quality. Likewise with Jack who must have enjoyed being under less pressure too since the heroics of the National Schools' Finals in Nottingham last week. Stevie D, playing at 2, did well to hang on in the early exchanges by the looks of it - another good spectacle for the crowd to enjoy. George has regained some of the form he had last season and Tim would have enjoyed coming through this hit without any adverse effects on his much punished limbs and joints! So TR2 climb away from the danger zone as predicted and TR1 can more-or-less say that's it for the chase for the title. Neil being in Egypt didn't help and he's there for all the right reasons but the smart money is on him finding a squash court somewhere as there are plenty!!! Hope TR2 can manage all their fixtures but a compromise can always be reached if it gets difficult! Contact us if probs, Alan. |
