Report

Report:A wounded Dragon den saw TR1 take a comfortable win last night, the tale of season where it could easily have gone the other way had the wind changed.

At 1 Chris had to retire against an in form George, it was a great effort for Chris to try and play injured but could not sustain, lets hope no more damage was done! Looking forward to this rematch it should be a great game to watch.

At 2 it was me (Max) against the ever green Neil. A tight 5 setter which I was on the losing end of (again!) racket broken and pride wounded. I hope my Wife isn't in labour for the rematch so I can try and redeem myself. Well played Neil.

The 3's brought the usual entertaining squash we all expect from Rhys and Zef, very energetic and skilful squash being played from both, with some brutal long rallies to match. Zef running out the winner in this one, but I feel Rhys might have something to say in the rematch.

The 4's were Andy who is covering for Dave with his broken leg. (Get well soon mate). The first game saw Julian fly out of the gate and caught Andy unaware, in the second Andy let Julian up 6-0 before clawing back many points in a row before losing it 15-10. A similar story in the 3rd where Julian was 5-0 up before Andy got into the game. Had Andy had started the games of a bit quicker he would have been right in this one. Well done to Jules though who never know's when to stop running.

The Dragon Slayers will be looking to lick their wounds quickly and repair the fortress before Falmouth arrive next week. We will be looking to take out some frustrations inflicted by TR1 this week!

Administrator Notes

Notes:Sorry to hear the Slayers are struggling with injuries! Chris being out long term would be a concern and we hope the efforts made in this match didn’t exacerbate the problem. That’s both Div1 matches this week strewn with injuries and absences - mid season blues! Hats off to Max and Neil for getting the fixture done and having the best hit of the evening too! Neil showed his true mettle last week at the Nationals winning his age category plate and has more experience at this level of squash than anyone I can think of, so a tight game and near miss against ‘Crazy’ will be encouraging for for soon-to-be dad Max! Hope it goes well, the birth that is!! Relegation is anyone’s guess this season but a few sides will have to watch out! Falmouth looked doomed but have a new recruit at 1 to replace Jonny so will be stronger next time out. TR1 take on the starlets of TR2 next week and certainly have the Spring crown as their target. Rhys v Zeph must have been quite a contest! Both are quick and have great mobility so it must have been pleasing on the eye! Good to see Andy doing his best against Jules who is one of the best ones in Div2! Don’t tell him I said so though. Get better soon Dave if you read this! Your team needs you! Thanks for another great report Max.
