Report

Report:Another tough night for TR5 against a determined Falmouth team intent on leapfrogging TR4 who at the start of the evening were 14 ahead of them in mid-table comfort. Job done! Peter had Ben running all four corners but this youthful vigour came to nought in the end. It helps to know how to put in that killer drop which Peter now does more assuredly but Ben at 14 has plenty of time and the potential in bucket loads to reverse all these defeats in the future. Chris looked out of sorts against a vastly improved Tom who has the agility and speed to develop into a fine squash player - another one for the future! Tom will be pleased as Chris managed the 3-0 last time these two collided in a team match. Adam didn’t do himself any favours bizarrely double booking himself on the evening and Alex took full ruthless advantage. No Christmas cheer there either then! Tony, last on, had the bit between his teeth to avoid the 15-0 whitewash but failed to recognise the full potency of Huw’s left-handed forehand which was lethal in the early exchanges. The Truro veteran did sneak the third by playing a better length, avoiding the forehand, and boasting very well. Huw was untouchable after that. Well done Falmouth - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! ‘‘Tis the season to be jolly! Damage limitation exercise expected at Bude HQ for the Div2 wooden spoonists next week, I suspect! In the bleak mid-winter! Maybe some seasonal goodwill from Rob’s boys?

Administrator Notes

Notes:A nice blend of youth and experience on show tonight. In fact the biggest age gap was 47 years! Both sides have emerging talents and I just hope the defeats inflicted on the youngsters doesn’t put them off. In truth the true sportsman turns a defeat can be a good lesson on how to improve. Some good, assertive marking witnessed and a friendly atmosphere with nothing in particular riding on the outcome. TR5 certainly consider themselves a development side. Falmouth will aim to do better in the new year.
