Report: | Another rare visit of some faces to Penzance where Truro displayed very accurate play but I feel sure were surprised by the never say die attitude and performance of the pirates. Phil Raffell had real chances to upset Truro but youth and precision overtook enthusiasm and effort. The closest upset where Adrian got to 13 a piece in the third game was the closest pirates got to a point. The scores in Tim Haydens game didn't truly reflect the effort and running by both players with many rallies continued when a winning shot appeared to be the case..Spectators had to wait until deep into the first game for the Hatch dive, Ian continued to be consistent scoring 8,8,and 9 in his battle with George. Afine evening rounded off by a menu change where the alternative to curry went down a treat |

Notes: | Great report Gareth! So plucky resistance came to nothing as the Pirates slumped to their 8th successive league defeat in the top flight. All I can say is that this result put TR1 back at the top of Div1 due to NQY2 suffering a W/O at home to Fal1 due to unbooked courts! What an unfortunate late twist for Dave Priem's men but they can pull it around with 30 pts from their last two fixtures, one at the Pirates too, but only if Neil Counter's men drop points against TR3 and TR2. And as for the Pirates, they'll get back to winning ways in January for sure and the Div2 teams will be looking forward to the curries (and one other?) again! See you soon, Pirates! |
