Notes: | Stamping their authority against Tr1's strongest side and away from home too, the NYGs will be delighted with this. I watched Zephy V Dave, what a match! Zephy was usually on top in some hectic, nay chaotic, nay bonkers rallies, but the final rally was the best: Zephy dropped his racket mid-court and fell, picked himself up, grab his racket, ran to the back corner and played an unbelievable cross court winner. Phew! Dave nonplussed! Time to shake hands. Then when Stevie and Darren came on court we all settled in for a probable 5 setter. Even the warm up had 'long rallies' written all over it, and once the shock of Darren's colourful beach shorts (Club 18-30?) and the fact that both players had more hair on their legs than heads (the spectator next to me commented, 'From behind it looks like two peanuts!') we all got what we expected! Stevie D probs has the longest court time for league matches in the county, Darren too prefers a good length to a quick obvious drop and Neil, the marker, was at his assertive best! Entertaining stuff! 3-2 to Darren, sweet revenge for Stevie's 3-2 at NQY HQ earlier in the season. Matt looked distinctly unwell hunched at the back of crt 1 but obviously had good 'medication' by the look of his result - only joking Matt! Class player and a few too many exocets in the arsenal for even an on form Crazy Counter, it seems! Jamie's result? Well, I know the feeling this week having been on the same court as Chris Adrian at least for a few minutes. Bad luck George and what the hell are Truro going to do in the Pawle Cup? It's all over, and it looks pretty much that way for the Autumn League. The open top bus tour through Newquay can be booked now.....
Note to Administrator: remember to use the expression 'singing strings' in another report. |
