Report

Report:A fantastic nights squash at Newquay. With both Newquay 1 and Newquay 2 playing there respective matches it made for an excellent atmosphere.Newquay 2 got the night under way with Matt Harford taking on the evergreen Neil Counter. Matt harnessed his lethal strokes too take this match 3-0.Next on court was Dave Priem against the young pretender Zefron Counter.Dave sneaked the first 15-13 but then (fat)igue kicked in as Zefron upped the pace taking the next three with ease.Darren Shaw went on against Steve Dickinson with the match in the balance,Darren got off too a great start taking the first two games convincingly. Steve then appeared too go up a gear and with Darren's fitness wilting turned the match on its head. Steve eventually running out the winner 3-2.The final match of the night saw Newquay 2 debutant Jamie Lang take on George Marley (no relation too Bob) A match that had everythig from hard hitting too exquisite touch at the front of the court from both players a real pleasure too watch, Jamie taking the match 3-1. Great result for Newquay 2. And both teams showing great respect for each other both when playing and spectating!! Great Stuff.

Administrator Notes

Notes:Great to see new players in our league! Welcome Jamie and how unusual to see Matt at 2! George came closer than 3-1 suggests and Neil May have preferred to have played Darren! Stevie v Darren was obviously a cracker and Zeph looks to how found form from nowhere after a break from team squash. These youngsters! A good home W for Priemy’s troops. A double header with both NQYs at home and a table toppers’ clash on the other court - squash nights like these are great for our sport!
