| Report: | A splendid evening of squash was enjoyed by Truro 5 and the voyagers from Bude. Joe took a game to warm up but pushed Robin close in the second and third games. Nick started strongly and won his first game against Chris, but the effort that took meant he struggled in the second. However revitalized he battled back bravely to make the last two games tight affairs. The battle of the big lads was between Adam and Rob. Rob won the first but Adam hit back taking the second 16-14. Experience then told as Rob held on to see it out. The 1st string match was Pete against Tremaine. Pete spent most of the early parts of the match asking the ref whether he (Pete) was old enough to be Tremaines father or grandfather! Tremaines hard hitting and youthful movement were undone at times by the looseness of some of his shots, allowing Pete time and space to gain footholds in the rallies. However age prevailed over beauty in three well contested games to give Bude a convincing victory. Great to hear that Tremaine has been taken under the wing of a coach, it will be good to see him fulfill his awesome potential. Splendid food from Clare followed! |
